In Zon in de Nacht (2023), filmmaker Anne Vaandrager explores the impact that her grandfather's double life and the silence surrounding it have had on her entire family. Can she break free from the shame that has been passed down from generation to generation? And can she put an end to the cycle of silence within her family?

The film incorporates interviews, archival material, and fictional scenes with talented actors such as Eelco Smits, Nazmiye Oral, and Diron Sterk. Renee recreated and translated three photographs from the 60’s, 70’s and 90’s into new set designs for these fictional scenes.
